So after watching the announcement on Teams On Air that anonymous join and Lobby were here, and Meeting join via Edge and Chrome were here as well i wanted to test it out. The plugin less meeting experience however isn’t in SfB meetings and it is very slick experience considering there’s no plugins involved.
Most of these features are all in Skype for Business Meetings and are now transitioned into Teams Meetings and i think most were marked for Q4 2017 on the Teams Roadmap so this completes the meetings updates for Q4 2017. Next on the roadmap for Teams Meetings is below scheduled at Q2 this year.
In fact after this post Microsoft released a new update for the roadmap dated 30th Jan 2018 which marks all items of Q4 2017. See the updated roadmap here
For Anonymous Join into meetings this really is the ability to add Guests outside of your organisation into Teams Meetings, all the attendees need is any email address and a browser to join meetings.
Lets Go have a meeting !
I scheduled a Teams Meeting in Teams desktop client and invited my personal Hotmail email address but you can invite anyone now. You can now invite anyone with any email address into Meetings as guests.
In Mail i opened the invite and click join Teams Meeting and it fired up Edge
I clicked Join on web
Love the video preview straight away but you can disable video and mute mic before joining the meeting.
Now enter my name ill be “Bruce Wayne” and click join
I join the meeting and see
From the Teams Desktop client as the Organiser i join the meeting with desktop client
I join and see Bruce Wayne waiting in Lobby and choose to admit or deny him
Let admit as we did invite Bruce as can ask if he knows batman
Bruce gets admitted in
Lets get video shared
and add some sharing from the desktop client to the Guest.
This is the view of the Guest via Edge browser
You cant share from the Browser though
Microphone muted – Love this feature and its displayed on the video preview as well as you can see above in the bottom right.
Mute Participants
Click the … by a person name you can mute or remove.
Add some Chat
After ending the meeting you asked for feedback
If you want to learn more you can click the link to see more info on Teams
After using the Edge Browser i wanted to try Chrome.
i followed the meeting join url and this time had Chrome and chrome did ask to allow the mic and camera
Thought id test the Lobby Access if you join via the Teams Desktop Client and you get this holding screen
